The Narrative Fidelity Framework: A Preregistered Stress Test of Patient-Narrative Measures

Sep 2026

Sole Author, Synic AI. Preprint, Zenodo (DOI 10.5281/zenodo.22801787)

  • Preregistered test of whether AI clinical notes keep what patients say (536 encounters, 21,902 patient turns, three public corpora); detector precision fell from 94% on author-written fixtures to 8% on independent data.
  • Found only stated worry reproduced across all corpora (α = .68 to .87). Abstract accepted at the inaugural UNESCO Chair on Health, Race and Human Rights Global Congress (Feb 2027).

Scoping Review: Healthcare Tasks Performed by Unpaid Family Caregivers

Jun 2026 to Present

Lead Author, in collaboration with USC Norris Medical Library

  • Mapping healthcare tasks done by unpaid family caregivers of adults 65+ at home (PCC protocol, PRISMA-ScR).
  • Translated the search across MEDLINE, CINAHL, Embase and grey literature, validated against a gold set; coordinating peer review of the strategy with a Norris Medical Library informationist.

Experience

Synic AI

Feb 2025 to Present

Founder

Remote

  • Built an end-to-end clinical workflow for solo and small-clinic physicians: ambient scribing, ICD-10/CPT/HCPCS coding with rationale, prior authorization with denial-risk flags and CMS/QPP quality reporting. An earlier version was piloted by 8 physicians (800+ notes).
  • Integrated the clinical coding and documentation agents of Corti (ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO 42001 certified) through its startup program, reaching 78% exact-match coding on a 121-encounter synthetic benchmark versus 52% for the prior pipeline.
  • Launched Synic Evidence, a free public tool that answers plain-language health questions from live PubMed, PMC, FDA drug labels and ClinicalTrials.gov, citing every sentence and verifying it against its source.
  • Launched Synic Dental (insurance narratives, predeterminations, appeals) and Synic Relay (care continuity for I/DD families).
  • Architected the stack in React, TypeScript, Node.js and PostgreSQL; migrated production to HIPAA-eligible AWS with BAAs signed with Anthropic, OpenAI, xAI, Corti and AWS.
